About Zoar
Zoar Church is a protestant church located on the westside of Evansville, Indiana. Zoar has a rich history and is over 165 years old. Zoar was started by 13 families in German Township in a small one room church. Zoar has roots in the Evangelical and Reformed Church and continues to pursue a Biblical foundation for its ministry.
Zoar sits on 14 acres in a beautiful country setting. Zoar has a unique setting that can be used by the community as well as its congregation. Zoar has a traditional worship with contemporary elements and is very service and mission minded. Zoar enjoys working with local agencies to meet the needs in our community as well as global ministries. Zoar has a robust music ministry that includes a Praise and Worship Band, Traditional Pipe Organ, Worship Choir, Bell Choir and special music guests.
Zoar is family focused and welcomes children into our congregation and encourages their spiritual development through an active Sunday school and youth group program. Zoar enjoys a multigenerational congregation and works in both service and fellowship together. You might find the members of Zoar working on reroofing a church building or at a local hockey game, and you will certainly find everyone enjoying church wide activities like Kona Ice after worship or Trunk or Treat in the fall! The anchor cross reminds the people of Zoar that “Hope is a Sure Anchor for the Soul” and is prominent around our church building.
